Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

What is Low Dose Naltrexone?

Low Dose Naltrexone (often called LDN) is a customized therapy that uses a much smaller amount of the medication naltrexone than traditionally prescribed. While standard doses of naltrexone are used to treat alcohol and opioid dependence, research has shown that very low doses (typically 0.5 mg- 4.5 mg) may have unique benefits for a wide range of conditions by helping the body balance its own immune and nervous systems.

How does LDN work?

LDN is thought to work briefly blocking certain opioid receptors in the body. This “reset” stimulates the body to release more of its own natural endorphins – your body’s feel-good and pain-relief chemicals. Endorphins also play an important role in regulating the immune system, which is why LDN may help people with chronic conditions.

Conditions Where LDN May Be Helpful

Research and patient experiences suggest that LDN may support:

  • Autoimmune conditions- such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis, and Crohn’s disease.
  • Chronic pain disorders- such as fibromyalgia and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
  • Neurological conditions- including Parkinson’s disease and neuropathy
  • Inflammatory conditions- such as psoriasis or ulcerative colitis.
  • General wellness and immune support

(Note: Not all conditions are FDA- approved for LDN use, but many patients explore it as an adjunct therapy with the guidance of their healthcare provider).

Why Choose Compounded LDN?

Since low doses of naltrexone are not commercially available, they must be specially prepared by a compounding pharmacy. Our pharmacy customizes LDN capsules or suspensions to meet your provider’s prescribed dose, ensuring accuracy, safety, and convenience. We can also adjust strength, dosage form, and fillers based on your needs (for example, gluten-free or dye-free).
